Too many videos to watch all of them? Watch this 4 minute montage to get the gist of what they had to say!
This is real people from all walks of life. Young, old, musicians, non-musicians, worship leaders, Christians, non-Christians... |
Folks involved with Music Ministry
John Woods, Music & Worship Pastor, Dawson Memorial Baptist Church, Homewood, AL"Impressive." "A unique approach, compelling." "Sincerely, when implemented it could be very helpful to a congregation."
John, Worship Leader, NashvilleWorship leader John finds it to be "underwhelming", which he says is a good thing, because it won't distract from worship. He wishes it were a feature inside a presentation app, like ProPresenter, so he could be more spontaneous.
Matt - Music MinisterMatt caught on fast, but to see if non-musicians would, too, he brought in his wife, and she caught on! He wants ProPresenter and Ableton Live would add SingAccord as a feature.
Mark, Minister to students, Bay Minette, AL"Super cool" "I’m a shower singer, I was in band, but I can’t remember all the notes.” “I can look in a hymnal and get a general idea, but I think this is way better for most folks"
Dan, choir director"Innovative way to understand the melodic movement of a song, without needing to project the full notation."

Tiffany, Lead vocalistLead vocalist Tiffany's church has so few people who can read Traditional Music Notation, that they couldn't even have a choir, but she thinks this could work for them.
Tiffany, part 2As a skilled musician, Tiffany was skeptical about the idea of inventing just another language when she can already read music, but by the 2nd song, she found it easier to hit the right note than using the sheet music she reads from every week.
Cheryl, Clip 130-year instrumentalist Cheryl recognized how SingAccord worked immediately with no instruction, and believes even non-musicians will get something out of it.
Cheryl, Clip 2Cheryl usually has to just stand and listen, but with SingAccord, she believes she'd be able to sing along immediately.
Sam, drummerWhen Sam visited a church where he couldn't sing along, he felt "uncomfortable". But thinks SingAccord is the perfect balance between not-enough lyrics-only and too-much traditional-music-notation.
Daren, Tech team leadAside from the fact that Daren kept saying "words" when he meant "rhythms and pitches", and the fact that facebook blocked the video portion of his recording for all but the first few seconds... I'd say this went off without a hitch. His initial reaction was "This is awesome! I'm just going to force my church to start using this." I had to get him to reign it in a bit.

Just regular folks not in music ministry
MikeMike said he feels "short-changed" when there's a new worship song, not because he doesn't want to sing them, but because he can't. But he's very sure that with SingAccord, he'd be able to participate almost immediately.

"I love to have new songs, I like the variety. But I wish I knew them, because I feel uncomfortable when I don't. SingAccord would be great for new songs, It would make the first experience with new songs better."
Joshua Miller, Elder, Emmanuel Baptist Church, Florence, ALJoshua uses hymnals-only in his church, but says "I can see it being helpful in the [churches with lyrics-only projections]. It's certainly an improvement over having nothing at all to follow along with notationally." He had no trouble with the rhythms, and by the second song (which he didn't know), he was able to sing along about half way through the first verse. In fact, he picked up on the pitch notation so quickly that he noticed some arrangement errors in one of the demos, so we did a do-over with a more accurate demo.

Brenda"I don’t read music, and I’ve always wondered how long to hold the notes and whether to go up or down. For a new song in church, I feel uncomfortable because I don't know the melody. So I just listen until I can learn the song. But with SingAccord, you didn’t have to have someone to tell you what to do; it was self-explanatory. After the first line, I knew ‘it’s telling you when to go up and when to go down, and how long to hold it.’, and I loved that!"
Greg"This definitely makes it possible to sing along the first time. It has a plus that just having the words can't provide. It's easier to see what's coming up."
NickNick knows nothing about music. And that's why you should care about his opinion.

JonmarcJonmarc is a User eXperience designer, so he understands the intimate details of why SingAccord is so successful. By the 2nd demo song, he was singing along to a song he'd never heard before in the first verse!
JaviDuring the first song, when he started singing along, I knew things were going well. When it was over, he blurted out "Dude, dude! That totally helped me!". And he even sang along with the second demo song, which he'd never heard before. Including singing the bridge the FIRST time.
Anna, 2 years of piano"I was blown away with your idea. It was super helpful for me to follow. I caught on to the first song almost immediately." "I think you’ve got an award winning idea here."
Ruth“You could have somebody singing in no time with this! It makes it where you want to sing. This should go, people should want this.”
Guitar-playing friend"Wow, I've never just 'seen music' before. Why did we ever bother learning the old way?"
ParkerParker doesn't know much about singing, but began singing along during his first demo of SingAccord.
WillWill says he already knows "all the songs" at his church, but thinks it would be great for new folks.
BuddyAt first, Buddy just said he felt "uncomfortable" when there were new songs. But when I asked him to dig deeper, he said he felt "intimidated" when he couldn't sing along. So special thanks for that honesty. How many in your congregation feel "intimidated"? By the 2nd demo song, which he'd never heard before, he was singing along. He also immediately recognized the key signature element, which I expect only some musicians will notice.
Clint, minister to studentsClint accidentally wandered into the back of the sanctuary as we prepped for a demo, and thought the idea of only two lines of text would be very choppy. But when he actually saw it, he says it turned out to be quite smooth.

DirkDirk is a software developer, who knows what it takes to make an app like SingAccord.

Non-musician volunteer"This is impressive! We'd been talking about it for a while, but it did deliver as expected! It was very helpful. I like the grid in the background, it allows your eyes to reference how much sections go up or down. You're going to create some huge fans."
Me: "with something like this, would the congregation be able to sing along sooner?" "Yes, absolutely" COmmunity Group Member"We've been relying on hearing the songs, but with SingAccord we can actually see the notes & rhythms."
